I wonder why those carbs are installed on ZL1s....Jason [/ QUOTE ] I've heard several stories as to why the first cars were equipped with 4346 carbs instead of 4296's. 1) There was some sort of tuning issue with the 4296 carbs which delayed their release -and- 2) There was an interference issue with the air cleaner base and the secondary pump lever on the 4296 carbs that had to be resolved before they could be installed. I'm not saying either story is credible, they're just the most plausible ones I've personally heard so far. Eric [/ QUOTE ] Eric, I got it from multiple ( credible ) sources that the 4296 secondary pump lever did indeed have an interference problem with the ZL/2 air cleaner base assembly. I can-t remember who, but one member here contacted me off-line with verification. Steve pump lever.
