Of late, I have been giving serious consideration to two new vehicles:

1. 2010 Cadillac SRX....an "American" car which is built in Mexico with Mexican labor.
2. 2010 Toyota Venza....a "foreign" car which is built in Kentucky with American labor.

So, which one is really the "foreign" car? Seriously, I don't know Unfortunately, I think the whole issue is far beyond the flag-waving "Buy American" mentality of old....especially when you factor in the countries of origin of all the components used to build them. Clear as mud

The whole thread was about 880,000 recalled trucks & 3.8 million cars recalled. Largest recall in U.S. history. Let's keep the subject here.

Sorry, it's easy to get you guys mixed up.

But to constantly clamor and tell me that not buying American is hurting our country is implicitly telling me how I should spend my money. That's crossing a line that you don't want to cross unless you want to look like a hypocrite, as someone just threw it back a few posts ago.

I never said that. What I had said was, "It's economically stupid on so many levels to buy only from one country." If you twist my word like that, it's no wonder your other thoughts are twisted.

But if you're still interested in hearing how buying solely from one country is economically not the smartest thing to do, I think there must be some community college with an online course of Econ 101 that may lead you to the answer you seek, grasshoppah.

I went to college when they taught you something you could use in the real world. I would guess you were still wearing a diaper during that time.

So, what you mean to say is, "I have no other response, so I'll use a red herring to make myself feel better?"

If you say so!

Could the recall have anything to do with the grade or quality of steel? I am trying to find where the steel is from. Seems to be reminiscent of the cheap brake rotors from China.
