Parking at shows should be handled similarly to how large parties are handled at restuarants; you'll be seated when your entire party arrives. If you want to park with your friends we will allow you to find a spot when they're all here.

I try to bring my daughter when I can so I am usually late to meet friends at a car show. Nobody has ever saved a spot for me so I just park where I can. Part of the fun is seeing other cars along the way to each other's cars.

Kinda makes me glad I will never get a car together to take to a show . Maybe someday? I have an old jalopy Model A I took to our town's antique tractor/machinery show. You would not believe how many people let their kids jump on the running boards and others just helped themselves to opening the doors. One guy even took it out of gear (it was on a hill mind you). Next time, if there is a next time, I am sitting with a baseball bat and a gun on my lap. Treating others goes both ways, and that means not touching what is not yours and asking first before you do (that goes for cones too). I can understand wanting to sit with buddies and they want to be close to their car, I can also understand if saving spots is an agreed known activity. It seemed 'that guy' Rich confronted had two sets of standards by not offering up his own saved spot. I would also meet up at another location with friends and arrive together (of course, someone always has to work late or lives far and this can cause an exception where I would appreciate a saved spot, if this were the case). Oh yea, here is my "Jalopy"fyi

I have pretty much given up on the car show scene...especially if it involves a long travel time to get there. We have one local ice cream/snack shop [O'Kennys] that probably does the best job of all of them. The people are friendly and fun to be around. The parking is first come first serve...they do a wagon ride for the kids...the guy has a mini car museum and the food is fast and good.

My only real complaint about car shows is the endless stream of show flyers that folks try to put on or in your ride. These should be handed out collectively to each entrant as they arrive...this is the professional and considerate way to spread the word. Having your 9 year old run from car to car with a handful of photo copy flyers is just not acceptable.

Wilma

I agree with Wilma, don't have the patience to deal with car show jail these days. I guess some people see it as a major necessity but it is just not that important to me anymore, driving the cars and talking to the people is the thrill for me. How many people have had this lovely experience of "saving spots" on Southwest Airlines.? Same reason I will never fly SW again

I have been going to car cruises for a long time myself and seen a lot of close calls with my cars.I seat in my chair and wonder why i even bring my cars.Sometimes i just go without one of my cars and walk around, which i enjoy more,no seating by the car watching it like a hawk.If i want to go for a drive,i just hop in and go,and then back home in the garage. It's a shame it has come down to this for some of us,but a lot of the stuff i have seen are mostly from non car people who don't know how to act towards cruisers cars, who have nothing better to do,but walk around.

Then there's the jealousy and envy factor that some of these guys carry around with them, it is at an all time high in this society.
For the first time ever this year I also went to a car show without one of my cars and I found it was more fun that way but then I miss driving my car and bring it the next week to run into more dinks. The abuse continues.

While at a cruise being held here @ a train station parking lot,a guy with a newer model pick up truck backed it up in the row up against the R/R trax & displayed about a dozen of his signature plexi 3' sign boards in the bed for car owners to possibly buy.
Hand painted & homemade and really nice.
A non stop commuter blew through and brought a hell of a wind as the signs became sails in the wind.
All his signs went airborne and landed on the pavement and cars around him.
4 owners were directly affected by his boards hitting their muscle cars.I didn't see any damage, but they sure acted like there was.
He gathered up his signs and left and hasn't been back since.

Always interesting. I had my 69 z at a show where I was informed it wasn't real because it had power steering. The 69 z next to me had ac and an auto transmission yet warranted no comments. My son had the 69 Bee survivor. The survivor class winner was a 68 camaro with edelbrock fuel injection.

Don't even get me started on participant voting carshows & their cliques..
If it doesn't have a fart pipe and speakers bigger then its tires,it doesn't get noticed.
