place in the 1980's or after.
However, I would agree that the pump should be at least 1970's based on the body design and America decal. Dave will
probably educate us in a bit.
Also, what are thoughts on using an early pump with todays fuel? I was probably going to use a new
pump and paint it blue all over and apply one of the decals on the bracket. Unless of course one of the old ones will work. </div></div>

I was told years ago that the only difference between the red and blue pumps was the spring in the bypass. My car had a blue pump on it when I bought it in 1985. It went bad and I replaced it with a red pump around 1986. I swapped the spring out of the blue pump into the red pump. It worked just like the blue pump did for many years. I had to replace it in 2004 when it started leaking really bad. So I bought a new blue pump and it weighed about half as much as the old blue pump. The new pump lasted about 2 years before it started overheating and quitting. Nothing changed except the pump so it wasn't wiring or fuel line location.

Rust in and on the tank could have changed in two years. You could try to put a magnet on the tank at the lowest point, with tape,it can help{low cost try}.
