Re: 08 Cobra Jets in Pomona
GN, No apology needed. I didn't explain my statement very well. I think it is really cool that Ford is able to do this with the economic disaster. Just wish GM and Mopar had planned and had their doo doo together. My stuff has been apart for about 4 years rebuilding the entire car. Even with the major improvements we have found it will be VERY tough to run with the new stuff. Now with the car just about ready can I afford to go the a National event or even a Divisional?? Nope. I see a ton of testing in my future.

Re: 08 Cobra Jets in Pomona
I assume they will be running Stock Eliminator in each of their NHRA Divisions and then attending NHRA events were applicable.

Re: 08 Cobra Jets in Pomona
The CJ's are freakin' SCREAMING...is NHRA gonna let the sun shine on 'em for a while, or are they gonna get hit with HP in the near future?

Remember, Steve Facchi ran a 9.71 at Atco last year in AA/S. I even think the 1968 Shelby ran close to that with a Mopar thrown in the mix. P.S. Isn't Phoenix a factored track, I forget? |

Re: 08 Cobra Jets in Pomona
Under Index Horsepower Increase Index Change
1.150-1.299 1.25% -.05 1.300-1.399 2.25% -.10 1.400-or greater 3.25% -.15 (immediate change) Anything over 1.15 triggers an auto review and a least two runs to cover a one time fast run. Runs at a Divisional or National (open) are included in the 1.40 or more analysis. They do this to react quicker to any out of line indexes, ie, and imediate 3.25% hp and or index adj. My line of thinking is to set a standard Density Altitude setting for below sea level chest beating runs. All that does is hurt the entire class and you when summer (hot and muggy) comes around and you are missing some well needed index. I have run in minus 600 feet DA and better here at Infineon. Taking 12 deg timing out, adding 140# with mufflers still could run low 10.40's @ 125+. I am not in this to destroy the class, Like stocks... I am in it for the long haul. I have learned this from 2 really well known West Coast Mopar friends. BTW, these guys should be in the New Mopar's. Just my 2 cents with coffee and Kidney Stones! |
