The Naturally Aspirated 10.5 class is for cars running 10.5" tires with no power adder. David Theisen's 69 Firebird won the rain delayed finals from Gateway with a 7.92 and then failed to start during the first round of eliminations. It is powered by a 611 ci engine backed by a TH400.

Scott William's 65 Malibu SS was my favorite car at the event. He was running in Open Comp. This car is powered by a naturally aspirated 588 topped with EFI. This is normally a low 8 second car, but he was clicking it off early and running high 8's.

Yes, he builds Tom Bailey's engines. I think he usually rides along with Tom on Drag Week. His shop is just an hour or so from the track.

Here are a few pictures from the AACA show in Auburn IN in June. There was also a Buick gathering in conjunction with this show so about half the cars present were Buicks. I'm not really sure how the judging works at these shows or how thorough it is. It seems like every car present won an award.
This Tuxedo Black 63 Corvette is a fuel injected car that was sold new at Don Allen Chevrolet in New York, NY. K. Stowe had it at the show. The one thing I hate about parking lot shows is the lines get reflected on the sides of the cars. |
