William,
So X11 COPO's got pinstripes. Didn't Yenko order a few COPOs with Style trim? How did he deal with the pinstripes on those X11 COPOs? Remove them? |

Yenko's are X66's (first 50) and if I not mistaken the remainder are X44's.

Yes there were a few style trim Yenkos. The famous photo of the back lot shows a yellow one. I do not know what they did with the pin stripes.

That was actually a discussion a few of us had at SCR11... Brian Potter has an X11 hugger orange Yenko currently in restoration, and we were discussing how it likely would have been sold when new. My personal belief is that the X11 stripes would have remained, in addition to the Yenko stripes, which would have been up on the body high enough to not interfere with the painted on pinstripes. I have absolutely no proof or verification of this, I just can't see someone at Yenko sanding off/buffing pinstripes... I'd guess the guys who were hastily striping the cars just pulled a stripe kit off the shelf that matched the factory pinstripe color and had at it... then again i could be totally wrong, which wouldn't be the first time...

I'm tracking down a couple of real good leads on motor and trans. Please feed me any additional info. [/ QUOTE ] Bruce, I assume you have the lead on the trans that I provided to Steve. Let me know if you need more info on it.

It only takes a second to buff off an original factory pinstripe. They were just laying on top of the laquer paint. No real adhesion. Alot of them were accidently buffed off by people who got aggressive with their waxing. 10 minutes and a old Sioux buffer, and you'd never know they were ever on the car.

As Joe stated above, my x11 yenko car also has an orig pic (around 1970) showing the pinstripes on the car with all its race decals etc.
