Verne,

I am 'almost' certain that you can spot the differences between peeling paint off someone else's car and moving a cone out of a parking space when there is limited quality parking available.

For the record, I would never, ever touch anyone's vehicle. However, a road cone blocking a parking space? C'mon Verne The minute I see someone spending tens of thousands on cheap plastic road cones where people are enjoying them, driving them, restoring them, waxing them, and showing them. I won't touch them!

I'm kind of a black or white guy. I don't touch anyone's personal property without permission, whether it's the straw in his Coke or the radiator cap on his Cobra.

X2...I would challenge anyone to try and move a cone or a coke straw...I might get my butt kicked but they'll know never to do it again. I don't touch anyone's stuff and they better not touch mine. One of the first things I taught my kids and my grand kids....if it doesn't belong to you don't touch it.

I will link you to a advertisement I put together for a Plymouth Road Runner ONLY car show that I put together a couple weeks back. Check out the post from the first guy after the flyer.

I go to the shows to hear the random spectator who's there by chance talk about their brothers old Hemi Road Runner. HA...yeah...I took my fresh resto day2 COPO to multiple local shows last year and i couldn't win a trophy to save my *ss...the shows around here are 'participant voting'...at one show I was put in the pro-street category cause the car is done-up day2 with tow tabs, there were 4 cars in that class and 3 trophies given out, guess who didn't get one... I'm new to the car show circuit but..

My car is far from a "show car" but it was hard to watch a trophy go to a guy with a Ford Focus.

Oh yeah, if you allow people to vote on "Best of Show" they'll choose the biggest POS on the property. Case in point: Took my '84 Porsche 911 to an all-Porsche show-and-shine sponsored by the local PCA chapter. Lots of nice cars and nice people. Some yay-hoo shows up with his 911 coupe with a small-block Chevy stuck in the back seat! (There's always one.) Okay, I get it, 911s aren't known for their drag-race credentials so there's always people who need more. Okay, to each his own. But this was more like a poke in the eye with a stick, intended to irritate the P-car crowd--which is probably not hard to do. Not a particularly nice job either, kinda' ratty, kinda' unsanitary. So what car gets the crowd's vote for Best of Show? Yes! The ratty half-a$$ed 911 with the 350 Chevy in back! I just laughed and laughed. It really was funny. Hey, you can't expect to get the crowd you wish for (unless it's MCACN) so you must suffer the consequences when the votes are cast.

This is not a political post. If it sounds like one, I understand!

Here's my two cents.

Went to a show yesterday and parked in what I thought was a good spot in "Chevy Country"

Got all set up and headed out to look at the talent and scout for some parts.

Came back three hours later to find that the folks across the aisle from me had built a fire and crop dusted my car with a nice coating of ash.

Seems like bon fires with hot embers floating it the air isn't such a good idea for a show.. JMO...
