Mike, unless the car came with deluxe interior the additional sound deadening shouldn't be there. I suspect a previous owner installed mat at some point.

It's been my experience in the past that cars with trunk mats are very prone to rust. Moisture gets trapped under the mat and has no way to escape. If it were my car, the mat would be removed and stored. IMO...BKH

Notice that it had the finger style trim rings on it. Though it could have been repainted - I don't see silver on the backside.

If you look close at the photo you see some silver overspray onto the black near the oval holes. |

Re 'finger style trims': My 09C Z28 came with the 4 clip trims originally, but in the late 70's, after purchase of a new 1977 Monte Carlo, I 'swapped' the trims between the two cars (because the '69 trims had a few dents ... so my original wheels also have scratches from the finger style trims. Fortunately, before selling the MC, I swapped the trims back... with the great proliferation of Monte Carlos throughout the '70's, I suspect I was not the only Z28 owner who did that.
Does the 'possibly original' spare tire have a date code on it? re dates, doesn't that 12/17/68 YH wheel correspond to the *earliest* YH we have seen??

Does it have the micro weight for the balancing?
