yellow paint on tie rod

Anyone ever see this on a first gen? Looks like the yellow paint that is painted on suspension nuts and bolts after torquing on old Bimmers.

Lynn, Yes I found Yellow on my 68's (F-body)
It was more on the sleeve and orange on the tie rod ends.
Crud my car had colors all over it,,When I asked about this John Z mentioned that they were not uniformly applied as some cars were pulled and audited and received additional inspections,,,,

That might explain why most don't have all of the "happy marks" (phrase I stole from Charley) some of the restos get.

My 08A '69 had no inspection marks on tie rods. Both spindles had paint dabs, one red (almost orange) and the other white. I always assumed those were there just to distinguish left from right during assembly.

Also had the green PTB on the firewall, but I could only make out the P and the B. Don't know if the T got washed off, or was never applied.

I decided to try to make one of the assembly line style oil filters. First run was so so. I need to make another screen for bolder letters. I did not have measurements so the size was a best guess. I also need screen ink that does not set up as fast the current paint. It probably would have been faster to just make clear labels.

OK Charley, enough relaxing...time for an update!

Any progress on the website or are you still trying to figure out the domain name you reserved?
