CRG says the KC was reserved for an L78 with the dual disc clutch, but that none are known to have been produced.

Pad looks very clean... very clean. I will let the experts like Kurt comment on the stamping.

That code is for a 69 Nova or Camaro,396/375 H.P. engine with manual trans. Check the rear of the block for a date code, should be for a 1969 built car. Also check down by the oil filter on the side of the block for a vin number. If the vin is there, chances are it came out of a 69 Camaro.

69 L78 codes are JL and JH, and KC was reserved for the dual disc clutch as mentioned, it is believed none were produced in a Camaro.
There was a very early 69 BBC Camaro in the Vintage certification area 2 years ago at the MCACN. The pad on that car was stamped KC, maybe ordered with that clutch and never came to be. Eddie, me and others looked at the stamp and to me it looked real.
As far as this one, I agree with Charlie and Lynn on the pad. It is hard to tell from one photo with the glare, but it is very clean and to shiny, also when I blow this picture up some of the broach lines extend into some of the characters.
I am sure Kurt will eventually comment here.

Mike

Take a look at the KC Stamp.
Sure looks like the broch marks ( in-line Sander)
Go through the letters as if done after it was stamped.
Also Broch marks look way to course

if it was a Nova, would have the VIN right next to that stamp, any stamp down near the filter.?

If he purchased this as an original stamp, he may be disappointed. I don't think this is an original stamp.
