Default 2020 Hendrick/Callaway for Hertz ZL1

Hi,

I am not going to market it here, I am thinking about listing it on Bring A Trailer though. I just want to know what everyone thinks here.

I have one of the twenty four 2020 Hendrick built Callaway ZL1 Camaro's. I don't really care for the car, it is a long story of how I acquired the car. Does anyone think that this car is going to go up greatly in value over the next ten years? Twenty years? From what I understand three have been completely destroyed, two in museums that won't been seen again and one just went for 250k. There was another one that transacted for right at 100k, and from what I was told was a complete re-body type of situation from a nasty wreck. The information on these is hard to track down.

Track wise it is an amazing car, I am just more into Corvettes over all and not really a newer Camaro/Mustang person.

Let me know what your thoughts are, value desirability, how to dispose of it?

TIA

I also was not familiar with the 2020 Hendrick built Callaway ZL1 Camaro. Out of curiosity, I did some quick research and found out what they were and that two have been sold on the secondary market. The first one was a Barrett Jackson Charity car that sold for $250k. That value more represents a large charity donation than the true value of the car. A second car sold for $77k. That car had been driven some and probably better represents the true market value.

While only 24 were made, they were not ever really advertised that well and were released during the COVID period when Hertz was going bankrupt.

My suggestions would be to take it to either Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale or Mecum Kissimmee and have them auction it. You will most likely get the best value and not have to troll around trying to market the car.

I did see that you have posted this same question on several other forums since February. The responses there have not been much different.

Lots of pics of the car in that link.

I'm with the rest, never knew of them and I'm thinking there aren't a lot of others in the know either. BJ or Mecum will, most likely, have the best exposure to sell it at the best price.

But what is this car??

That link above said "MAX POWER 480HP". Yet Callaway stuff is either 630HP or 750HP MAX POWER?

Doing a search, brings up lots of articles on the car when they were released and all state the hp at 750 with the Callaway modifications.

It is basically a ZL1 with a different supercharger and hertz stripe kit. Nothing else really done to the car.

480hp is for the SS version. The ZL1 version is 750hp.

Personally, I think these cars will be more valuable than a run of the mill ZL1. Hard to say how much though. Look how much the GMMG modified 4th gen cars go for now.

The Callaway SC750 package from Callaway is a TVS2300 supercharger, new intercooler and a high flow air intake.

There were several of these cars that went up for auction when Hertz was trying to avoid bankruptcy.

I know nothing about this car particularly but just to answer your overall question. I don't feel like these cars go up in value right away, meaning over the short term next 5 to 10 years. Unless your going to keep it a really long time I think the sooner the better to sell. Car markets really hot in general now too so at some point there has to be a correction. The only way I think I'm off base here is if this is a Ford GT type of car that seems to have a sky is the limit return on investment from new. Either way its a great looking car with a ton of power, maybe an auction with a realistic reserve (sure they can help you with that number) is the way to go. Best of luck with your decision.
