Fuel Injection LT1
The photos are not the best and my recollection may be off, but this is what I recall.
I owned several Corvettes back in the early to mid 1970’s. One was this customized 1971 LT1 with a 1963 fuel injection unit and a 3.70 rear. Dick Ferrando of D&A Corvette in Gillespie, Illinois built this Black Beast. I owned it from 1974 thru 76 when I lived in Springfield, Illinois. One of those years I took this Black Vette up to Bloomington where there was a twin to mine that Dick also built but in White with Red interior. Those headlights were the talk back then. This car was scary fast. I was young, dumb and broke, but had a hell of a time! Chris

----Wow, Chris! Dick thru a little bit of everything on that LT1. I noticed the back up lights from a 68 in particular. I actually like the car a lot. Wonder what happened to it? How did it run with the fuel injection, by the way?....Bill S

That's honestly the toughest looking Corvette I have ever seen. Looks like this one just hit my number #1 C3 spot for best Day 2 Corvette.

Flares are perfect. Just enough without totally changing the profile.

Yup, Dick had an imagination back then. The car was tastefully done IMHO and had a crowd around it all the time. The FI on top of that engine was wicked. I almost lost it a few times. From the front grills, I don’t recall ‘72 amber lenses so I think they were 70-71 lens. It doesn’t seem to have ‘68 doors with the push button. I see pockets on the RH side of dash. People including me loved the slanted shark vents on the fenders. I recall Dick saying they were a bitch to make. I must have installed an intake and carb for the sale as I brought the FI unit along with a mint Real Teak Wood steering wheel when I moved to the west coast in ‘78. I sold the FI soon after settling in the SF Bay Area as I needed money. I still have the Teak wheel.

Awesome thread. Badass Day2 car. Do you have the VIN to track her down?
Phase III/GT style rear window Edit - your photos are fantastic BTW!

I bought a LT1 crate engine from a guy in Napa 8-10 years ago. He had a chromed fuel injection unit that looked identical to that. His name was Viscusi. Super cool guy that had a small winery in his backyard. I bought a bottle of wine from him and it was the best Syrah I have ever had. So much so that I kept the bottle. It could very well be the same unit. Looking at the bottle, it may have been more than 8-10 years ago.....

I wasn’t sure how this customized Corvette was going to be received on this forum, but I figured the “day 2” conversation I see here are very popular. It allows us to reminisce of what we had back in the day. I loved this car and wish I still owned it as is, but no VIN or knowledge of where it might be. That 4 door Pontiac in the background in the first pic was my work car. I paid $75.00 for it and sold it years later for a case of beer. Hilarious 😆 Those were the days. Chris.
