Your block/head cast dates versus engine assembly date are fine IMO. Rough castings at Tonawanda that were placed in foundry inventory were subsequently shipped to the motor plant on a LIFO (last in - first out) basis. So, extended time frames between cast dates and assembly dates are not uncommon. This is particularly true when physical inventories were taken at the foundry - that's when the stock that was in inventory for a long time was turned over. I have no idea why head cast dates would "usually" pre-date block cast dates by a period of weeks. |

Yes , stamping is Feb 13 1970 ----- Nov 12 1969 cast block ------- Heads cast Feb 3 1970
