Default One owner SS396 brought home

Heard about this car over 3 years ago.
I was originally told it was an SS396 Pace Car.
Got in touch with the original owners son 2 years ago, to find out it was actually a Hugger Orange coupe / white vinyl top, deluxe orange interior, standard SS hood with white stripes down the side, 396/325 4 speed .....but Didn't want to sell it.
Last week got a call out of the blue, that maybe the time had come...needed $$$ but still really didn't want to sell.
Checked it out and picked it up saturday.
Worst part is I didn't have the $$$ either....so I did the next best thing and hooked it up with my friend Danny.

The car has been off the road since 1983. Motor, trans and "everything" were out and stored in the garage since then.
Correct alt, dist, smog pump, still has the original exhaust etc. etc...Owner had all the paperwork you can imagine, window sticker, POP, contract, finance papers, 1969 title, and a load of Pep-boys tire receipts

Pretty low option car built and bought off the lot in September of 69.
no radio (still trying to locate the plate)
14X7 XT's with full wheel covers...have 3...son says he probably threw out the 4th a few weeks ago when cleaning up the yard
Mom was also sad to see it go, as she even had some time behind the wheel at Atco over the years and Dad passed about a year ago.
Mom and son both recall that there was "something special" about this one from the time they bought it. She told us it had some kind of star on the windshield at the showroom, and was special as only a certain number of dealers had one like it? or part of an alotment from Chevrolet?? (I've never heard of this, anyone have any more insights to this "star" or could it have just been some dealer hype?)

Well the car now needs a good bit bit of work(full resto in the works), I believe most of the damage is mainly from sitting outside so long.
But Danny is up to the challenge, and plans to bring it back to better than showroom condition.
