Thanks Eric. What is your preferred % mix?

Also, is this acceptable to use in a modern crate GM motor without risking damage?

Thanks,
Dan

Dan;

Anywhere from 25-50% mix (av.gas/pump gas) with premium pump unleaded should suffice for 98% of applications. I'm currently testing with straight 100LL but will be switching to straight 93 for further testing next year to see what % of a mix is required (if any) to keep the 496 happy.

We have a local airport that sells the 100 avgas. You just carry your can(s) to the pump, put in your credit card and fill away. No one mans the pump. Since it is on the edge of the runway, you can't drive your car or truck up to it but have to park a few yards away on the driveway.

The only problem I ever had, was being there at the wrong time a few months back. A student pilot was taxiing a little bi-plane to the parking area and cut the corner too sharp. His wing tip hit the main rotor stand on a Raven helicopter parked in the lot. No injuries other than BIG wallet damage. Luckily there were dozens of other witnesses so I didn't have to stick around.

I agree that a pump gas motor is the way to go. My motor is 10.48:1 with the timing set any anywhere from 35* to 38* and runs great on super unleaded which is usually 93 with ethanol and 91 without.

Some of the guys run out to the local airport and run 100LL but not too many. Otherwise they will run 110 but it's $6.99 a gallon which is crazy .....and I don't understand it since gas is $1.85 a gallon here. I would think race gas would start dropping but it's been that price for a few years now!Kurt

I remember being warned about using 100% aviation fuel and the possibility of eating up your fuel pump because of lack of lubrication if you put on a lot of miles, and less concern for the 1/4 mile use

NovaBoy and I run the Sunoco 112 with 93 octane. I run a couple gallons of the `112 with about 10 gallons of 93. Seems easier to start to.

Bring a couple 5 gallon fuel jugs, tell them it's for your race car and you should be good to go.</div></div>

You're spot on with that ...
