if you can't hear and FEEL the pounding of each cylinder firing, I don't want it. Yes its fast, no doubt but a huge part of Drag racing is the sound and feeling which is totally lost with electrics

When they get the auto-pilot stuff fully figured out you can just sit in the back seat with a beer while your car races the car in the next lane. Maybe they will be in the eights or sevens by then. Both cars cutting perfect lights (wifi-closed loop with the tree by then, won't even need lights!).

"back seat with a beer" - you are not dreaming big enuff Dave. You can be sittin' on the beach with a beer and remotely piloting via wifi interface system from another hemisphere and have the results texted to you within milliseconds of the races end or maybe use thot control while hacking into satelites and .....

You are probably right, I just figured the NHRA would at least like the "drivers" to show up for the race! Spectators are getting to be optional already.

They sure are taking all the fun out of this stuff.

Guess I'm old school but I like the sounds and the smells, and love the need to wrench on and freshen engines, tune carbs etc... I just enjoy the whole experience, but if this is the direction of things to come, I likely will be visiting the track less and less.
