Default '72 Corvette LT1 Convertible, Red/Red, Very Original, Sold @ Dale Chevrolet

I really like this car...the color combo is stunning and it was sold new at Dale in Waukesha, WI. Asking price is $79,500 which I'm guessing is way up there for a '72.

The seller is claiming it's all original, excluding maintenance items, so I'm guessing that means the paint is original as well. Neat car but could use some cleaning up, James Groome style....

Cool Car with the smog pump included. A 4.11 gear was rare in 1972.

BASE TRANSMISSION means M20...
M20 with 4.11's would be BRUTAL!

That car is a killer combo, there was probably not another 1972 RED RED LT1 Roadster with 4.11 M20 EVER BUILT...

Agreed - the car isn't worth close to that... even if it were a Red Red two top A/C roadster I can't see 79... though the prices are moving up and original paint original drive train cars are more and more difficult to find, roadster's especially. There are a couple of roadsters which are nice on the market but few original paint ones, and no original paint red LT1 roadsters that I know of have been for sale in a while, 2 nice red coupes sold a 72 AC for mid 30's OLD repaint. And a one owner 30k miles 70 LT1 coupe in red (sold new at Nickey) sold for 50k almost immediately.

Kool Corvette, I like it. I also like that it came from Dale, a Midwest Performance Dealer.

This is a really cool car, but it needs a tremendous amount of "fluffing" before it can be judged in any category (Flight, Bow Tie, Bloomington Survivor or Bloomington Gold). The chassis really needs many of hours of "cleaning" to bring the original look back. The interior will need to be cleaned lots, also. Many little items like exhaust, belts and I'm sure many of the expensive trinkets under the hood need to be replaced.
The first thing I'd do is to get the rear end back on the ground...... It does look like a 4 wheel drive truck with the rear all jacked up like that. I'm not sure what's doing the lifting as it looks like the original spring and trailing arm bolts. Maybe they got the rear tires off the ground and didn't move the car to settle it back down.

I'm sure there are some bad surprises for a potential owner as always seems to be the case on an original car that has not been prepared for judging.

I just finished rebuilding the rear end in my uncle's '69 427 Vette and he had stacks of washers under the ends of the springs to lift the rear of the car. I removed them and replaced the spring bushings, which has the car setting about right now. He had the rear raised to clear some slotted wheels that were on it many years ago. Maybe someone has done the same to this car.
