Default 1968 Firebird convertible

Although this Firebird convertible isn’t loaded with options, it seems to be in remarkable condition. Bidding is just over $16k with the reserve not met. What’s it worth with a 326 auto? Seller speculates that the paint may be the original factory Vedoro Green paint. Based on the sheen off the hood and deck lid, I could be convinced, but the lower body looks too good to be original. Perhaps it’s been touched up?

Upon closer inspection, I see that the VIN tag has been painted over so it's not likely the original paint.
