Hmm, my big block pump is a 40170 with a stamped metal tag, cast cover, nothing stamped on the body. Just "Made in the USA" cast into the underside of the body flange.

Post Fuel Pump..

Looks very similar to the pump for the 68 L78 application...I will have to dig out my original pump and compare.

here is some pics of my NOS Big block 40170 pump, looks like there are differences in the inlet and outlet spacing (Number of screws) and the double inlet boss is on the opposite side. Hope it helps.
