ALL Ford 289 HiPo cars received cast iron motor mounts which were much stronger than stamped steel units. This was done to anticipate the cars use at the drag strip where high RPM clutch dumps were common.

One of the biggest differences between the 1965 and 1966 GT350 is how Shelby dealt with axle/wheel hop. The 1965 has "overrider" traction bars which were located above the rear axle that were very time consuming to install. The 1966 GT350 has "underrider" traction bars (sourced from Traction Master Co.) that took just a matter of minutes to install

The extensive options list that was available for the 1965 Mustang paid off handsomely for Ford. On average every 1965 Mustang had $400 in optional equipment.

What makes this 1969 Boss 302 unique is that the original buyer was Chrysler Corp. Chrysler bought the car to compare it to it's forth coming Challenger TA and 'Cuda AAR. The practice was called "benchmarking."

Originally BULLITT was to have an all Ford car chase. WB had a promotion agreement with Ford who provided 2 Mustangs and 2 Galaxies. Unfortunately the Galaxies could not handle the rigors that Director Peter Yates and Actor Steve McQueen wanted. Both Galaxies were quickly damaged (due to the rigid body-on-frame construction) in testing. So instead two Charger R/Ts were purchased from a local Dodge dealership. The 1968 Charger like the 1968 Mustang had a unitized body and frame construction making the car more flexible when landing from the extreme jumps.

From April 1968 through the 1970 model year, if you wanted the 428 CJ engine in your Mustang and you also wanted a 4 speed you could not order A/C. You had to order the auto to get A/C. But . . . at the end of the 1970 model run, 11 428 CJ 4 speed Mach 1s were built with A/C according to Ford Guru Kevin Marti. All 11 exist today.

As long and as extensive the Mustang's option lists were, there was one important option that was not available until the 1971 model year . . . . . . . power windows.

When it comes to Mustangs and options, this one is pretty rare. It's a 1970 Mustang Convertible with the 351-2V Single Exhaust, Auto Trans and a Shaker Hood ($65). Ford made 17 of these in 1970.
