I personally like the dates on that block Dave-the other 0606 assembled block is cast within 4 days, so it all seems very plausible for shipments of engines heading from Flint to St. Louis in and assigned to cars when they arrive. The one car with the month earlier cast and assembled engine looks like an outlier. I like using Adams' database because I think he collected info before the information stream got too polluted with restamps. I wish I had access to pictures of the stamps to help verify my confidence in them. If you look at things like the pictures in the C2 Registry, its very helpful, but you have to look at the pics themselves and decide if you're buying them as real.

Thanks, Tom. And the caveat here is I'm buying the car as a fun driver since I really miss my 64. I'm not too worried about the stamping, but if everything checks out and it's the real deal, then bonus! Although the repaint is eye catching, It was a treat when he told me the original color was silver blue. Only thing that could have made me happier was Daytona Blue!
Personally, I'm pretty confident that the car is a fuelie, but whether that's the original engine or not, who knows? I'll post clear pics when I get it here. Looking forward to more help! Cheers Dave |

Nothing is nicer than a well set up fuel injection unit. They can be temperamental and they need to be driven regularly to keep them happy. The fuel unit is driven off of a drive cable from the distributor, a fuel unit and distributor can get pricey. The air cleaner unit is reproduced, but pricey. A fuel unit and distributor can run about $10,000.

Dave,
FWIW, I have been using Jerry Bramlett for my injection work. The unit I sent to him some time ago is dead reliable! He is fair in his charges, and road tests each unit. I'm sure he can help you with sourcing a unit or at a minimum, steer you in the right direction. https://jerrybramlett.net/ Not much sounds like a fuelie at full song! Tim |

Thanks, Tim. I sent him a message to see availability of the needed parts.
His website is a little funny, but I guess he’s tired of dealing with the same questions all the time! Cheers Dave |

Hi Dave, I agree with what was said. Be aware of pad surface. It seems some machine marks are not factory typical here. I should have a fuelie distributor at a very decent value if you end up being in need.
Good luck with the purchase. Have you checked the trim and vin tags? Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan,
Yes, the trim and VIN tag all look good for a 63. Nothing funky about them. I first thought something was wrong since there was no “DD” stamped but after some research figured out while the welding of the tag was the same, the tag was different with no “DD” (Delivery Date” raised letters or stamp (or lack of). But yes, the look OK. I sent the engine pic to a few others and they think it looks OK, but I”m not convinced on anything until I get it here to get sone clearer pictures. Remember, I bought it as a fun driver and for my price point, I’m extremely happy. And Bonus again is that he found the Hardtop he had for it and sold to a local guy who wants to sell it. So I’ll have the original hardtop with it too!!! I’m planning on returning it to a factory injected car, and have an email into Jerry who has an entire correct set up for me, but he may already have a deposit on it. So I may be interested in that distributor, and travlnz28, sending you a PM. Cheers Dave Last edited by A12pilot; 09-21-2020 at 07:16 PM. |
