Default '63 Impala SS #s 409-340hp 4-speed, 49000 Miles

Looks like a very well cared for '63. Been repainted but looks pretty unmolested overall. The oil change sticker in the door jamb is dated 1974 so that's always a good sign, too....

Cool 409...

That back seat was built for love...and you could hide about 3-4 people in the trunk going to drive-in...

I like the contrast the vinyl top offers.

I didn't think you could get a vinyl top from the factory in 1963, just painted. What was the first year vinyl tops were offered on any make of car?

I had a 63 SS that was black with a white vinyl top, I knew the original owner, and they never said anything about it being added. It also had stainless strips on the rear that made it look like a convertible (just like that one).

Somewhere I have a photo of ‘63 Impala 409/340 three-on-the-tree car that was white with a black vinyl top that my father owned for a short while in the late-70’s.

----You could get a vinyl top in 63. It actually liked like convertible top material. I've only seen maybe two or three since 1963 though.....Bill S
