Default 02B 69 "perfect date" DZ

Hey guys,
What would be considered a good date range for an 02B 69 Z? Up to two or three weeks prior on the cast or assembled date for the DZ?

Thanks.

Z/28 engine production was typically close to final assembly, Norwood in particular. There are many Norwood Z/28s built several days after their engines. In the January-February time frame, there are 4 examples built the next day; 8 built 2 days later. The Flint engine plant was a 5 hour drive from Norwood so not out of the question.

After March, the span increases. Must have added capacity.

Norwood: V0203DZ-V0213DZ
Van Nuys: V0203DZ-V0206DZ

For the most part, engine dates increment with VINs.

Castings vary, no FIFO. Mid-January to early February for later engines.

Thanks William. I know Lloyds 02B has an 0206 DZ. Would you consider 0130 to be a good date or would that be too early? Seems like a week earlier is plausible, but I haven't seen any examples. Mine is a Norwood car.

So how about early in the production year? My Z's engine assembly date is VO912DZ, but car assembly is 10B. Is that one that is different from the norm?

A bit early; a few 02A builds had February 3 engines.

What I provided is what is normal. There is an 02B car with a Jan 23 engine; an 02D car with a Jan 21 engine. Both allegedly VIN stamped. Must have been waylaid for some reason.

Yup, an outlier for a 10B build. Our 06E '67 Z/28 had a V0706MO engine. Real, VIN stamped, protect-o-plate.

Much appreciated William. So plausible, but not the norm it sounds like. Ours has the born with M21 and BV rear, so we're trying to get close as possible on the DZ.

Good info William. I'm still looking out for a DZ block for an 02D car. Knowing the dates of a few other 02D cars and that the car was shipped on March 3rd, I'm trying to find a 6618 block cast in Feb with an assembly date falling into the 20th to 25th dating or the 3rd week of February.

Don't be afraid to holler and anyone sees a late February block available anywhere. All I want is a good core for a high RPM stroker build.
