Default Hone-O-Drive Units

Are the Hone O Drive units able to be shifted on the fly? Have heard conflicting info on that. One Fella has one that bolts to the 9" Ford stated that youy can shift on the fly. Someone else indicated that they heard you can froma Friend who has one on a Chevelle. Does anyone know?
