Nos battery Prep
Hey folks
I have a question on using an original NOS delco battery that's still factory sealed. Using a NOS Delco Y87 and need to know what to do with the factory hole filler delco puts in each hole. Looks like a wax or plastic but do I need to pull these out or just push them in and fill the battery. Last edited by wayoutz; 03-05-2020 at 07:35 PM. |

Just push them into the battery, I bought a NOS battery for my Corvette last year pushed in the wax plugs and filled it with acid.
Works great... When it kicks the bucket I am going to put a gel battery inside it.

I read about something in the last 5 years which was being used on lead acid batteries as well, IIRC apparently there is a way to strip the plates using either electrolysis or chemical and electrolysis. (reverse the polarity or something) I know that lead is used in some type of plating process so there may be a way to remove the outermost layer of lead oxide? to expose fresh lead?
Just guessing here... I am in no means a chemical or electrical engineer.

I but a Braille battery inside mine. Works great. I was warned that the Braille batteries do not hold a charge long term. My experience has been just the opposite. I have two. I had one set in the car for 6 months without driving it or charging it. I put my battery tender on it, and it was fully charged within an hour. If I let my lead acid batteries sit even 30 days, it takes 12 - 24 hours to fully charge.

James,
You are probably thinking of this: https://www.pulsetech.net/our-techno...echnology.html It works. I've saved several batteries that couldn't even hold a charge. Won't fix them all, but will many.
