1972 Ford Ranchero GT 429 Value

I was wondering if anyone here could help me put a ballpark value on a 1972 Ranchero GT. It is a pretty original car with one repaint from bright yellow to blue. It just came out of 20 years of storage. It runs and drives but needs to be brought back to snuff after all these years. It has a good amount of rust and will need doors, a tailgate, and a hood or hood repair among other repairs. It is pretty well optioned with bucket seats, tach/gauges, A/C, power steering, disc brakes, and competition suspension. What do you guys think its worth?

My best friend's grandfather bought a solid, running and driving 1972 500 for $10,000 in 2019. Now, that car has a 289 swapped in, was repainted from Ivy Glow to black, and the interior was redone with a floor shifter and random buckets. But it's rust free (with some Bondo according to my friend).

So I'd say being mostly original and a 429 car, but with the rust issues, probably somewhere around there, maybe 12,500-15,000. Rancheros don't seem to have jumped in value yet.

Of course, I don't really follow the prices much so I may be off but that feels vaguely right based on the few I've seen for sale on line.

I have a video of my buddy doing a massive one in the '72 I mentioned above. I'd link it but given it's on a public road I don't know how well it'd go over on here.

I'd be interested to know what the Competition Suspension is.

Thank you guys. I put it up on Craigslist for $7450. These Rancheros are a pretty good value. From what I read, in 1972 there was something like 10 El Caminos made for every Ranchero. And yes, it is a burnout machine!

Jason; you continue to amaze with the things you find.

JMHO, but I would think that car (truck) will bring whatever the engine and its peripherals are worth, and not much more. I doubt anyone is going to bring it back. The biggest reason the El Camino outsold the Ranchero 10 to 1? Looks.
The ugliest car I ever bought, I bought just for the engine, rear, and chassis.

I'd swap out wheels.... tires... clean it up and ask $6500.

These pretty much top out in the high 20s, so the $6500-7500 numbers seem good given the body panel issues. I agree that putting a better set of wheels and tires on it is probably worth the cost-you have to squint a little too hard with those rusty wires and All Terrains. I had the privilege of appraising a pretty neat original paint Q code 351CJ/4sp car last year and found a strong niche market that has been around for a little while.
