All the repop lock sets do not have the key slot in the lock....drives me crazy, and sticks out like a sore thumb.

I have all my original locks restored and rekeyed with the correct coded keys....including the glove box and console lock if they have a locking console.
Nothing worse than having a restored car with multiple wrong keys.

I am certain you can find a good locksmith in the St. Louis area.

Good luck,

Dan

Rich,

Being a master locksmith by trade, I still have NOS Briggs & Stratton locks here that I've been holding onto for decades. These are the same locks that were made for GM and I have them in correct GM keyways for 69 cars with original keys and coded heads. All the cores are original gm keyways and I can key them correctly. With a few complete sets left, I can key and Ignition w/ Trunk, and both factory original door locks to NOS glove box cores I have here as well.

They are all packed away at the moment but I'll dig some out in a few days here and get some pics off to you if you'd like a set. Happy to help as you've done some solids for me with parts needed.

Complete installation notes are posted in the link I made above.

PY Classic Lock sells OEM locks for Chevrolets complete with the slotted tab. You need to specify "OEM" when ordering from some of the vendors who sell them such as Ground Up.

What is this key slot or slotted tab you guys are referring to above? Here's a typical kit using original cores from Briggs & Stratton

I’ve rebuilt mine and salvaged the OEM notched flapper and used it with a new cover. PITA to take apart, but the results are perfect.

I agree, pet peeve, straight slots look like ...well they’re just wrong.

I have the two gm door locks and original ignition for one of my 69 chevelles however no keys and no trunk lock ! Can the keys be fitted to my existing locks and if I can come up with a gm trunk lock could the same key be made to fit all three locks?
