When you have a super successful product like the Mustang, you experiment with all different variations to see if you can capture more of your intended market. Out of all the "experiments" only one succeeded and went into production: the fastback. All the others didn't:

2 seater, 4 doors, wagon, 4 wheel drive and this one: retractable hard top.




Sorry for the crap quality. It was the only video that showed how it worked.
