FWIW the gm nova product information program shows 69 396 with a 5 blade but 1970 396 375 hp first jobs with a 4 blade , heres a pic.

The repop five blade fan is the way to go. Better than paying the big bucks for a original, if you can find one... The thing I did was touch-up the rivets with a little satin black, looks better.

Chev eventually released a dual bolt pattern of the BB Nova fan, had 8 mounting holes in the hub. They are out there in the used parts space

The reason for no 7 blade Nova fans is because there's no room for it between the water pump and the radiator. The 7 blade fans use the clutch and it needs more space....As far as I know, there's no 7 blade fan that bolts directly to the water pump.
