Default 1970 BBC valve cover tabs

Did 1970 bbc use different valve cover mounting tabs. I have 14 tabs 4 short early style 10 longer? If this is correct where do the 4 short tabs go? Bottom middle 2 studs?

My 70 SS Chevelle 10C build had all the short style tabs on it.

Was thinking they may be aftermarket but just wanted to clarify. They were in a bag with a bunch of parts from a 70 BBC I was thinking they were original. I will just go with the smaller tabs.

No those are not factory. All 70 big blocks used the triangle shaped retainers.

Those look like modified Corvair valve cover retainers. We used to do that "back in the day" on drag cars. It helped to keep the flange flat on covers that were removed often.
