Default Correct windshield

Went to install the windshield in my 69 SS convertible this past weekend . Haven’t seen the windshield in years. Went to open up the packaging and realized it’s the wrong one - has the antenna up the center. So......where is the best place for replacements. Looking for as correct as I can get ..including date stamp. Any help greatly appreciated

Mine came from Auto City Glass, and they etched the date code and logos onto it. I can't speak to the correctness of the etching, size, font, etc, but I remember that it was Pinkerton glass. It was so well packed, that I think you could have dropped it off the truck without breaking!

I think you mean Pilkington glass.... not those detective guys.

I bought Pilkington as well. Hired a glass shop to come to my house and install. One of the techs remarked: "Well, I see you bought the really good glass". I didn't ask what brand the crappy glass was.

I opted not to include a date code.

Pilkington has closed down Pilkington Classic. Spoke with the parent company last month. They may have stock left but no custom or etching orders. Auto City Classic, who can only do LOF coding, is the only source now that I know of.

I have heard good things and seen VERY GOOD if not NEAR perfect reproductions from ECS, on some difficult items. they makes some second gen F engine labels which are correct not only on the printing type fonts etc but also the PROCESS being reverse printed on the back of a clear base stock -

Obviously they are getting glass from someone and I would guess doing THEIR own logos as those are some of the nicest I have seen.

Well I dropped the hammer & ordered a w/s from ECS Automotive. It was 350.00 plus 170.00 shipping.
I talked to Pilkington today & they said they are no longer dealing with the general public nor are they date coding any glass. Although it wasn't said directly, it almost sounded like they lost their license with LOF/GM. We talked for a while & he said he can still sell the glass but no more date coding. What's the point?
ECS will do what you need. They are licensed by the big 3.
Sorry to confirm the bad news....Joe
