Neat video. Seems a very fair way to value the car and not take advantage of the widow.

STRANGE, months back when Rick was asking about the value of a '68GT500KR and was offer the car for $50K, yet HAD to walk as he would be upside down on value when restored?
https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=158759 Now granted this is better shape, but the man intending on dumping another $45K+ after a $65K investment. This one seems like a nice car, but I thought with the wrong engine and other stuff, it would have been in the $45K range.

My limited knowledge of these cool cars is that they are worlds apart in desirability and market value between the two model years. I believe it has to do with the level of involvement by Shelby on the ‘67 models vs. the ‘68s.

I was able to talk him down to $45 but felt this car was a $25 car based on what was missing and what needed to be done and at the very least break even so I passed. He said he decided to restore the car himself. I wish him good luck.

1967 Shelbys are worth more than 1968 Shelbys because 1967 was the last year they were made in California by Shelby employees. In 1968 production was moved to Michigan and done by Ford employees. Many Shelby people feel "real" Shelbys were made between 1965-67 down in Los Angeles.

Thanks for enlightening me. I didn't know the facts behind the '67 vs '68. So what would the difference in $$$ for a '67 GT500 be vs a '68 GT500 if they were similarly equiped with BB and 4 sp?
Rick, thanks for being open. FAR too often people play the game and are not forthright with info for 1 reason or another. I agree to with your thinking as well. I have seen far too many cars over the years that are OK priced, but to restore them many many would be upside down in the end. Also with the market for "normal", not the elite/upper scale musclecars not increasing as in the past, is another hit. This '67 being a survivor is nice and the new owner went ABOVE AND BEYOND to get the seller the money, i think. Education for me. THANK YOU!!!
