Default R59 Battery Conversion

I recently bought an R59 Display battery, which has the battery posts, but no lead plates. I got a little primmer on cutting it to receive a modern battery (ala Odyssey) from the seller, but he's never actually done it.

Anyone out there who has done it, or has seen it done, who could give me a lesson, before I go cutting into an extremely nice display battery?

Like,
1. Cut bottom or top off the battery?
2. Should you reglue, attach strips around the perimeter so the top just fits back in place so you can get at the battery if necessary? If re-glue, how to re-glue?
3. Replace posts with ones that have studs on the underside, or drill and tap the ones that are in there?
4. Use cable or strapping to connect the terminals from the Odyssey to the posts?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When I gutted my repop R89 (side post) I took the top off and resealed it with black RTV. But I just did it for display purposes, not to encase another battery. I would think removing the top would still be your best bet if only for access to connecting your cables, straps, whatever to the existing posts.
