Default 69 Camaro Alternator and Power Steering Brackets

This subject was a spin-off from a thread about neg battery attachment location, so rather than continue to hijack that one, I thought I'd start a new one.

I know the 1969 b/b alternator bracket set and power steering set were very short lived. I always thought they were unique to 1969. But the discussion in another post got me to thinking. Someone said they observed 69 style brackets on early 70 b/b Chevelles, so the question is:

1. Would extended production 69 Camaro engines (coded Cxx) have 69 style or 70 and later style alt and p/s brackets?

2. Would they be the same for any Chevy b/b (excluding Corvette) ie. would a September 69 (70 model) Impala, for example, use the same brackets as a September 69 (69 model) Camaro?

I have seen unmolested examples of EARLY assembled 1970 Chevelles,Impalas & Novas with the upper 1969 alternator bracket, both in person and in 37 year old magazine coverage as well.
I can't comment specifically on the 1969 Camaro, but there seems to be typical overlap on early assembled vehicles, even today.

Gary to add to what Rick said. I have no documentation only what I have in parts and remember parting cars. I parted a min of 8 BBC impala/ caprice 69/70 not counting the chevelles.
I have seen one 69 upper alt bracket on a 70 which I am convinced was original but every 70 had the flat lower alt bracket and the two piece spacer which I was told was only 69.I didnot see the one piece spacer up here until 71 models. 69 Impala shares the same alt brackets as the camaro but not the power steering set up I have seen on 69 camaro. But I don't know much about camaro.

My power steering set-up for my Camaro came off a 69 396 Impala station wagon, which I'm fairly confident had never been molested. [no, it did not have XT wheels!! ]It was 3 piece, with the little L shaped bracket that attaches to the exhaust manifold bolt, and the cradle style bracket, not the later 2 piece set that is still available from GM. (Also had the p/s return line on the side of the pump reservoir)

Does not seem like Gm was very consistent with this stuff.
If this is the p/s set up you are referring to I had them here on chevelle but none on the 69 impala I had were fitting with them. Two of the cars were 396 2 barrel but that should not make any difference.I also don't know the dates any of these cars were manufactured.Looks like I stand corrected and the impala also came with both styles.

Yep Joe, that's the bracket set I got from the 69 Impala.

Gary,

I totally concur. I purchased a 69 Caprice with the 396-2bbl
setup and its P/S pump had the return on the side of the reservoir
like the Camaros did. It also had the 3-piece bracket setup
as well. I was the first person to take that 396 apart and
I know that all the major components were original - born with
items.

The question remains, did late production Camaro use the 69 set-up or the 70 set-up? Based on Rick's observations regarding early 70 b/b Chevelle using the 69 set-up, I'm leaning toward the opinion that the b/b Camaro used the 69 set-up throughout the extended model year.....but that's just an opinion? Anyone have experience with the late 69 Camaro?

Unless I'm loosing my mind, I believe that Jeff Dotterer
told me once that early LS/6 ( possibly all big block )
production also used the '69 bracketry. So if you follow
that logic, late 69 production must have used the 69 bracketry as well.........
