Sure looks like a model rather than a real one.

They were an aftermarket thing that Mr Wangers was quite fond of.

Dad was pretty pleased that he managed to fend them off on our Wangers prepped '63.

By the way: the red car belongs to Dennis and Mary Koss, the only two time winners of the Van Seymore Award at the Widetrackers Dustoff show.

The black car was owned at one time by Detroit rocker Bob Seger.

Want stripes on your new 2020 Shelby GT 500? You have two choices: first is the factory optioned vinyl stripes for $1000. The second option is for the factory to ship your car to Penske who paints the stripes on the car. That option will cost you $10,000

1966 R code 427 Fairlane 500. One of 57 that Ford made for it's assault on NHRA & IHRA Super Stock. The original "lift off hood" muscle car. Bench seat, no radio. But they had a heater and defroster. And, most puzzling of all; front disc brakes which weigh more than drum brakes. First use of FDB in a Ford intermediate sized car.

Base price is $ $2,378.40 for the Fairlane 500 and the 427 was a whopping $1,725.20 for the “427-8V CID Engine Race Car Pkg.” This is not the same 427 that Ford used in the 1964 Thunderbolts. It only has a 10.5:1 CR and is a medium riser, not a high riser. The car is actually streetable.

Not sure why they didn’t just fix the current vinyl stripes! As I researched my GT350R I heard more and more about the vinyl stripes lifting after awhile. So I submit option #3. Cover the vinyl stripes with clear protective film - which corrects this problem and is what I have done. Come on FoMoCo!!!

P.S. pretty sure you could find a nice local paint shop to paint your stripes on for less than $10K!
