That battery looks like the original that was in my 1987 Monte Carlo SS from what I recall. I could look at my window sticker. I also have a bunch of build sheets that were in the car when new.
I would be interested in one for that car and my 79 z/28.
I must say that topper on the interstate looks good. I run interstate in all my cars. Just have had good luck with them.

The interstate battery’s look correct, some battery’s fit a little diff, if other than interstate, I’d recommed taking the topper to the battery store, walk around and try it on them. The battery’s w/ the built in handle fit a little diff. it’s hard to fake the opaque, the shelf at the Battery store is full here of white ones but some guys cant find the white. I took one to the Nationals for a guy in Penn, BTW, 1979 Z should be one of the blue Freedom toppers.
I need to post these too, I have some glovebox freedom battery brochures, they are real hard to find, these are exact down to the card it’s printed on., both sides just like the OG ones. $15 for the freedom card.

My vote is the blue top 402. What’s on your Build sheet? (Box 47 ) Box 47 should be the last 3 of the part number. A freedom 2 would even be a correct replacement. For birds, 400 was the battery, 402 was if you got the UA1 HD battery.
Mycar is full power options , A/C, and rear defog, HD Alt and still got the 400. Go figure. So that isn’t necessarily the case for a full optioned car with a HD battery.

What started this whole mess is cleaning out my moms garage I found my second battery that I put in in 1983, on a shelf under papers. it’s a replacement Free2, I still have it. I can post a pic. If anyone wants to see it. But she tossed my OG shocks. :/

Fwiw, I have an 80 Camaro (with a 267 V8) build sheet, car is long gone.
In box 47 it says 400.

Yep, could be either.
I asked a friend, he’s a low mile collector of the F body’s, he said 400.
