Default 1969 Camaro Grill Question Silver and Black

Question about factory 1969 Camaro Grill colors, we all know non Rally Sport grills were silver unless its an SS then it would be black. Now on Rally Sport grills, of course all RS SS grills were black but I've seen non SS cars with black and silver grills. Is there a official reason as to why some non Super Sport Rally Sport Camaros had silver and black grills?

I've seen silver RS grills in other colors than black. But not many.

If when you say, "Ive seen......" if you mean cars at local shows, cruise ins, etc, then that's probably because folks sometimes restore cars as they like them.

I have a buddy who bought an unrestored numbers matching fathom green 69 z/28. When he restored it, he painted it garnet red, used a black grill, and continued the stripes over the deck lid lip. Why? He knew what was "correct", but he wanted it that way!

When I say I've seen I mean vintage original photos and what I remember when I worked the dealerships back in the mid 70s.

Why there were silver RS grilles in cars with colors other than black is because they were added to the cars...
Why you saw a black SS with a black grille - it was added later after the original became damaged or perhaps a factory screw up, if it was installed at the factory there would need to be CRAZY documentation that the grille was not installed after the fact.

IIRC the silver RS grilles were not available through service for very long - maybe to 1973?
