Default Stolen Yenko Corvette's

Talking to a guy tonight who is from Canonsburg / Houston area and he asked if I ever heard a story about 2 Yenko Corvette's being stolen for their engine and trans then the rest was supposedly buried. Rumor he has heard has them being buried on the property he currently owns! I told him I'd ask here if the story is true or not. If true does anyone want to go searching?
His background is he use to walk around the Yenko lot as a teenage kids after walking to the ice cream shoppe. He then worked at the grocery store caddy corner to Yenko and "Pinkie" would shop there, driving in in her pink Corvair Stinger.

I would think a metal detector hobby group would love to get permission to check the property

Default Stolen Yenko Corvette's

'

Most buried car tales end up a bust but cool if any truth to the story.
Do you know what year also to confirm, was it two 'Vettes stolen at one time and from one of Yenko's locations?
I'll take a spin through the old newspaper site but there's articles w/ other stolen Yenko cars/parts there so more details may be necessary to zero in on anything from this occasion if actually true?

I was usually at the Dealership at closing time..we usually put the Corvettes inside the service department at night.Don't recall such a story..could be wrong. Never called Donna Mae "Pinkie " her pink Stinger was not street legal..race car only. She had a pink Corvette.

Don't know year but can ask.
A side note - do know the whereabouts of a buried Superbird as a friend chased it for a few years but the old guy wouldn't allow the digging back up of it.

Missouri Valley, Ia had an old junk that a gentleman left to his son. The son wanted nothing to do with it, so he basically buried everything. A couple of Superbirds were buried. I've got pictures somewhere, just have to find them.
