COPO Chevelle
This car is offered by our sponsor Corvette Mike. I happened to be searching and found it listed, but I'm not familiar with the car.
Matador Red w/White vinyl top and Parchment interior. L72 427/425hp, 4-spd. transmission. This awesome and very rare C.O.P.O. Chevelle has had a complete rotisserie restoration and is awesome! This C.O.P.O. Chevelle was documented by Ed Cunneen on January 31st, 2003. It was originally built with C.O.P.O. 9561-High Performance 427 Pkg. And was originally ordered a paint delete. There were an estimated 224 C.O.P.O. Chevelles built. This particular example came with the following options: Tach and gauges. M22 4-spd. transmission. Parchment Strato bucket seats. 14? SS wheels. Super Sport Blackout grille and front Bow Tie emblem. Super Sport hood. Special Posi-Traction 12 bolt rear end with 4.10 gears. Records in MD. have been searched for title history, and attempts have been made to contact the owners. The details that follow are based on their information. The Chevelle was sold new on 8/13/69 by Westminster Motor Company in Westminster, MD. to William (Bill) Shimkus. When purchased, the dealership did not disclose to Bill’s parents (who co-signed the loan) that there was a 427 under the hood! They were instead told it had a 396. At the time, there were two Chevelles available, this one and a Yellow automatic. This information was verified by a previous owner with Mr. Shimkus. About 3-4 years later, the Chevelle was sold to its second owner who replaced the 427 with a 396. It was discovered that one of the subsequent owners searched and found the original engine and put it back in the car. In October of ’88, Paul Kiel purchased the car from Stanley Roservelt Furrow. It then traded hands to Randy Miller and then to Mick Price. It was Mick that had the car completely restored by Dave Tinnell, which was completed in ’98. After the restoration was complete, Mick took the C.O..O. to the Chevelle Nationals. It was at this event that Mick was approached by Bryan Millorn about purchasing the vehicle. A deal was struck and Bryan took possession of the car in August of ’98. There is no documentation pertaining to Randy and Mick’s ownership. All of the information was confirmed by Bryan Millorn at the time of purchase. A binder with extensive info on the car, including the owner history, past titles, verification certificates and other items is included with the sale. This investment quality C.O.P.O. is without a doubt, one of the finest examples available on the market today. And it runs and drives as good as it looks! Cars like this one do not come up for sale very often. Don’t miss your opportunity to be its next caretaker! https://www.corvettemikeanaheim.com/...aheim-CA-92807 Photos: https://www.corvettemikeanaheim.com/...aheim-CA-92807

Yes this is one of my old cars. The engine and rear end is indeed the born with ones. The trans is an M22 but not original to the car. When Dave restored it for me we left the vinyl top off of the car because it looked so much better. The car was a paint delete car when new but was not red, it was ordered in the corvette Riverside Gold. I thought white interior, white roof and gold exterior looked to much like an old ladies car. I thought well its a paint delete so really about anything applies so its special order red. Its a great car and wasn't even wanting to sell it when I was approached. It is my understanding that Jerry McNeish has original paperwork for this car. Randy and I researched it back in the day and everything is true on this car. Its a great car who ever gets it will be happy with it.

----Great Chevelle that would still be in my garage if not for the chance to get my old 67 427/400 full option Corvette coupe back! I only did a few minor corrections on it while I owned it as Dave T did such an outstanding job. For instance there was a 69 Camaro master cylinder on it, and it took quite a while to find a correct date Chevelle one. Also replaced the stock shifter with a look alike Hurst, but I imagine Mike has the original as it went with the car in the trunk. New owner will be very proud of Mick's old car.....Bill S
----Forgot to mention that there is a very nice 1/18 scale model of this very car. Very cool!!! Last edited by olredalert; 06-06-2021 at 09:09 PM. |

IMHO it looks really good in that color of RED.
Is it Monza Red? I've got a thing for parchment interiors...

That makes two of us. However, I'm not a fan of vinyl tops on 69 Chevelles

I think the car was purchased by a friend from Burnet, TX at the Chevelle nationals in the late 90's. It was a superb car.

The current owner is a good friend. He has owned the car for roughly 3 years and has been a very careful and thoughtful owner. It has been kept in a beautiful facility that houses his collection.
