Default Rotary Air Compressor

I am thinking about getting a Rotary Air Compressor for my shop. The main reason is to supply my media blaster a constant supply of air. My tank compressor runs out of pressure too fast. Does anyone have one of these? What size/hp do you have. I was hoping a 5 or 7.5 HP would be big enough.

I talked to a guy who deals with used compressors. He had a very nice rotary that I was considering buying. He advised against it (mind you if he encourages me, he gets a sale) because I told him it would only be used 3 or 4 days a week. He said they really need every day use, and the more constant, the better. Did not like it for a hobbyist.

That's good to know. I would not use it every day.

I have a 10 hp 220 v single phase Eaton Rotary and use it like a hobbyist. It is fine.

Does your compressor keep up with media blasting? What psi do you run with it?

Yes. That's why I bought it. I usually run it at 80 psi.
