Rick Barrett
Been reading about Rick Barrett over on the YS9340 thread. Recently a guy talked about Glidden working on the engine of Barrett’s Gold Yenko.
I wonder if the Pinto Barrett raced in Gas class was an ex Glidden Pro Stock car? Used to watch Barrett at Beech Bend a lot, he was always in the top of the field. Richard

Sounds like he was a long time racer. The only cars I saw him race was the Pinto and later a rail car. Thanks for the info.

Not sure if Rick Barratt’s Pinto was one of Bob Glidden’s old cars, however, John Lingenfelter raced an ex-Glidden Pro Stock Pinto. John also bought Bob Glidden’s Chevy Monza and was successful in Comp eliminator. In fact every car that he raced was bad fast.

It’s hard to say where some of the early ex Pro Stock cars went to. Racers traded around from one season to the next trying different combinations.
Thanks Rob for the pics, as we’ve discussed I sure miss the days of Gas n Modified racing. As for the Lingenfelter cars my favorite was the green 73 Vette he ran in Super Stock. I heard that car was being restored by his nephew back to its state when John raced it. Richard

Here are some of Rick's cars. The 1st picture is Rick and his Pinto at Indy winner circle with Wally Parks. The 2nd picture Rick's Mercury Capri, 3rd was Ricks Dragster, 4th Picture was Rick's 1970 Cuda far lane behind the blue Granny Goose 69 Camaro, Rick on the cover of National Dragster. While our focus was on Rick's Gold 'Motivation" Yenko there was no denying that Rick did some extensive drag racing. In fact we have a article from a National Dragster were Rick mentions his 69 SS/D Camaro as being his first real racecar.
