Default parts prices holding versas cars ?

I'm curious.

Opinions ?

I would think that they would soften just like everything else .

Noticed a block /heads seller's current wares today on ebay, seems like HIS prices are going UP .

even at standard/ no sleaves, can a decked - rebroached ( broach marks don't look exactly correct to me - too fine ) early 67 351 casting bare block bring $8200 in todays economy ?

The CARS (435hp 67 vettes) wouldn't even go past $165 at big auctions (and that was a vert with very rare colors - papers and awards) over a year ago before the common folk realised the big fall was coming.

Is this kind of $ still being attained for these , or are they last gasp dreams ?

I think if anything the price of parts has increased. Hard to find original parts will always demand money.

As for cars, I am a firm believe original cars will keep steady money whereas the fake cars will start to crumble in value.

If the real stuff is softening, then the knockoffs are drowning.
I'm seeing & experiencing real parts & real cars hold their own if not rise to the top like cream over here,as opposed to repop/Taiwan parts and cloned/resto mod vehicles.

I've heard it repeated there are deals out "there"(where's there??) on good cars, nice cars that are NOT top line, NOM, no papers, but well constructed, nicely painted cars.......

I'd be interested in SEEING and READING about "Your" examples........????????

Parts have gone down a bit but still seem strong. They certainly have not gone up. I have seen a 15-25% price drop for the parts I have been selling over the last 3 months.

I agree the rare stuff will always command money but I doubt if eg. 480 or 499 dist will continue to bring in stupid money $2000+.

Remember there is a dwindling supply of real NOS stuff and a constant supply of cars, thats why part prices have been holding their value better than cars. That being said no story cars will always command strong money.

Theres still big piles of NOS parts out there, people still haven't brought it out yet. A month ago a friend asked me whats a NOS trunk weathestrip worth. I got 7 maybe 8 of them, and I go with the white tampon string?

But I been holding off selling on Ebay and swap meets for the last 2-3 years. Think about not about crazy money, but what good parts brought then and what they go for now. Like Nova lip mouldings, or Camaro voltage reg. mounting stuff.

I think this winter is going to be intersting because people are going to start to need money finally. I met up with someone last week who used to deal with high end Corvettes and Hemi cars. He closed his real estate office 14 months ago and sold his cars off shortly after, and now is selling off his parts and tools to make his house payment. Will the prices go up or down...who knows.

Classic case of supply and demand. Before the crash, People had money (they thought ) and were willing to spend it on NOS parts that were not around. I would see a pattern of parts rarely up for sale until one of them came up and went for big bucks, then you started seeing a bunch more. That was demand affecting supply.

Now that demand had fallen off (the average joe doesnt have play money anymore) the amount of parts will shrink. I know I have not sold recently for that reason.

When it gets bad enough that people in need (lost job!) have to sell projects and parts, I think we will see prices going down. I think this is happening already. I seem to see a lot more projects on the market.

Soon might be the time to buy if your $$ are in good shape
