Default Complete ZL1 on EBay

Saw this bad boy just start out on Ebay. Good comp. I don't know about the 88 claim though. Also, I think he made a big mistake with the high starting bid.
ZL-1 Engine

I think the price it too high for what it is. It doesn't sound like there are any GM parts left other that the bare heads and block. "Bore is I think 75 or 85 over (I think about 11 to 1)" Even the owner doesn't know how the engine was built. If I were looking for a ZL-1, I would keep looking. Just my opinion.

Im the seller of this motor I think the auction speaks for itself yes im not sure about a few details on this engine true but can you remember what you did 8 years ago on a motor you built. i have built a hunderd since then and cant remember the details. I just wanted to set the record straight. no matter what happens with the auction i have owned or will still own the badest motor ever built. can you say that? :-)

How do you come up with the figure of only 88 ZL1 motors built? I think your off by about 100 motors.

So you think there was 180-200 engine built? Where do all these figures come from?

Tonawanda plant was the only plant that built the COPO engines. Muscle Car did an article in April 1987 on the number of COPO engines built. Records show the following:
34-ZL1's with engine suffix MN (Automatic) F-Body
54-ZL1's with engine suffix ML (Manual) F-Body
1-ZL1 with engine suffix MV (this was for the prototype car)
1-ZL1 with engine suffix MX (this was the 2nd prototype car)
94-ZL1's with the engine suffix for the Corvette
That would put the total ZL-1 engines at 184. Can anyone dispute these figures? If anyone wants a copy of the article, just let me know.
