862 early cars - white plastic retainer
890 later on - black plastic retainer

I think it was within Q1 1969 but someone else with a better memory can confirm

890 usage started around February from what I've researched. May be slight +/- between the two assembly plants, but it's around that timeframe.

so a early june build should have a 890

Yes, 890 would be correct for an 06/1969 build.
