All of Grumps Trophies were in his shop before the shop closed. Then they went to Mecum Auctions.

WoW Kinda sad really.

Hopefully someone like Wally Parks Museum or similar buys the lot for those that appreciate his efforts.

cheers Dave

That just makes me sick that all that stuff is being sold at auction and will go in many different directions. It should be kept together somewhere so people can see ALL of it as a tribute to the man.
It's like cutting up his body and selling fingernails............

You were right both times. Everything that Grump still had was in the shop, packed up and sent to Mecum. On the other hand, he had allowed a few things to be sold or given away some time back. He didn't care about much other than his actual race winning trophies, and as far as I know, only one of those is in a private collection, but I have two of the Car Craft Christmas tree trophies, a bunch of the Car Craft All Star plaques and a few NED Man of the Year trophies/plaques and various jackets, pit shirts, etc. And his event sticker decorated shop fridge that was there since the '60s. Verne,

I also find interesting is that they decided to split up the trophy collection. I was told several times by Bill's guys that the plan was for them to be sold as a single lot to keep them together. I guess Dana figured they'd probably maximize proceeds for the family by allowing more people to compete for individual trophies than only the big boys compete for the collection.

Grumpy still had in 2012 his first Trophy.
