Default Corvette ZL1 question

Hi . . . I am aware of three:

-white
-yellow
-orange

I was curious about the legitimacy of each.....?

And did I just open up a can of worms?

Thank you for your response. Finally finished both threads, and I am not sure I have a clear answer.

Excluding mules and prototypes, but including pilot production ... in other words, "official production" ... there are 2.

That statement can NOT be taken as law. GM documents also state early production ZL1 are not accounted for under RPO ZL1. Plus Mayers orange ZL1 with factory docs is not in your accounting either. Mayer has also stated there was 7 OTHER ZL1 vettes beside his orange auto that he physically seen. THEN you have Terry Cains first hand acount of a Blue on Blue ZL1 coupe he say new with window sticker stTing ZL1.

There was 150 blocks set aside for vette production. The vettes HAD to be RPO L88 first to be ZL1s. So did others slip thru in early production os just a L88 since there records are also know to be vague? Or maybe some of the original test cars slip thru and not get crushed???

But looks like at least 3 are the know number now with Mayers auto.

The orange convert is in my accounting. Every GM document lists the total number of factory/production ZL1 Corvettes as: 2

Sure, there's plenty of hearsay, rumors and distant memories (also mules and prototypes). There's also dealer conversions, that may or may not be accurately reflected (or remembered) on any particular window sticker. But the official GM docs, for production ZL1s, only list 2.

BUT ... if there's other official/authentic GM documents that list more than 2 production ZL1s, i'd love to see them!

So, you admit to 2 and Mayers orange convert. So hiw does that become 2 with Rogers Yellow and Ex-Saydum white cars. Is that not 3 minimum? Seems that there is a bunch of onfusion around the much popular and longer running L88 info. So this very limited run of less then 10 would probably have a lot less info surrounding it.

There's no evidence ... but rather, only vague memories ... to support the ZL1 authenticity of the white car. Also, it was built too early to be a factory ZL1 (yes, we know with certainty when the "first complete pilot build" occurred).

When you consider the number of dealers the white car passed thru before it was ultimately sold, its quite likely that ... if it was indeed delivered to the first buyer with a ZL1 ... it was a dealer conversion (a conversion that the first buyer may, or may not, have been aware of).
