[ QUOTE ]
We have found the body #s are consecutive, per order, but the vin #s can be 100s apart. Example - my white car, and a Lemans blue car I owned are 3 body #s apart, but 263 vin #s apart.

[/ QUOTE ]

Body numbers had nothing to do with production scheduling. They were assigned when a dealer order was confirmed [not placed] by Central Office thus reserving materials and production capacity. On any given day some if not all the Camaros ordered by any dealer had consecutive body numbers-check two of the Z/28s in JMs '69 book. While many COPOs ordered by a particular dealer [Yenko for example] do have consecutive body numbers some do not including Bergers. Even the 50 ZL-1s Fred Gibb ordered do not have consecutive numbers. The body number on ZL-1 #3 is 211785; ZL-1 #1 is 222002. #3 was the first ordered but the 3rd built.

Claiming a Camaro is/is not a COPO based on body number only is asking for trouble.

We are saying the same thing. when Berger ordered 20 cars they appear to have had consecutive body #s. No one is claiming you can tell a COPO car by a body #.

Maybe not you but others think it is possible.

With all the Copo body number groups found so far, it certainly helps to document a dealer ordered car that is found within the group of know dealer ordered cars. We have seen the groups of consecutive body numbered Canadian Copo Camaros, Yenko Camaros and other smaller dealer Copo Camaro orders such as Glockner, Frost, Berger, Byrne Brothers, Douglas, Dale, Jack Maxton and others. I don't think we have seen a non-Copo Camaro with a body number within a know group of dealer ordered Copo cars. Its been a good indicator so far.

That's easy to say because there is little data. When we have access to ALL 1969 Camaro orders from those dealers then we will know. Since that will never happen and probably 75% of 1969 Camaros produced no longer exist the data is likely gone forever.

There is also a good chance there is already one example. From CDN shipping info:

xxx062 COPO
xxx072 SS 350
xxx102 COPO
xxx104 COPO

I find this statement kind of hard to believe. There may not be 25% of the 69 camaros left in the original condition but I don't believe 75% of them are gone (no longer exist).
