Default Interesting Nova color combo

Saw this on Facebook.

I think it's pretty cool--and the interior is gold to boot--but it's not one of the recommended color combo pairings for this car. I know the Camaro is very similar in that there's a few fixed color combos to choose from, but not this.

Yet if you look at the GM of Canada docs, there's nothing that suggests anything unusual.

Does anyone know why?

That is a weird color combo... My car is a factory (L-2 Code) Tahoe Turquoise but with a Black

Vinyl top and a Black Bucket seat interior. Cool color combo!

My dad was looking at a new 66 Buick Skylark in the day. The car was Turquoise. It had a $12.00 option for “two tone moulding”. It had the moulding but the car was all one colour.

I see two tones are back with some Korean, Japanese manufactures also Volvo and Range Rover.
I predict vinyl tops, phaeton tops and Landau bars soon.

Some times they had "extra" moldings and just put them on a car to use them up.

Even if you didn't order them, they were added to the car. They must of been a body change

for 67 in the Buick? Don't really know why. Was the car ordered late in the year?

Had a friend back in IL about 20 years ago that had a 67 Chevelle SS396 convert that was the same color combo, Tahoe turquoise with gold interior.

Default Sun damage

Could the dealer ordered the weird color combo? Tahoe Turquoise is a nice color...that 67

Must be original paint that was in the sun all the time. Are both these 67 the same color?

The Nova is a fairly good representation of Tahoe Turquise IMO. The Chevelle, not even close.

Car was dealer stock, my dad never bought it, waited a year and got a 67 Plymouth Fury III.

My 1966 GM Canada Chevy II info says you could order any two tone combinations of colors you wanted. It probably was the same for 1967. In addition, the 1967 Chevy II info states you could order any interior color you desired with any exterior color. A gold interior wasn't listed as available with either Tahoe or Emerald Turquoise, so this was clearly a customer choice, albeit a strange one. A 'one off' car for sure.

As for the question on the D99 two tone trim, you could order this in Canada for non two tone '66 and '67 cars. In 1967, it just showed up on numerous solid color hardtops, sometimes without charge. It was on my buddy's solid black, late build 1967 Nova SS. Last year for the body and last year for Chevy II production in Canada, so they wanted to get rid of it, I guess.
