Default 1969 Dealership Search: Chuck Patterson Chevrolet, CA

I own a Van Nuys built 1969 Camaro Z/28, and as I’m on the hunt for an original dealer’s rear license plate frame, just received the NCRS shipping report for the car.

It indicates the original delivery dealer was Chuck Patterson Chevrolet Inc. in San Clemente, CA (dealer code 390 / zone 34). I’ve been from one end of the Internet to the other, but can find no mention of a Chuck Patterson Chevrolet dealership in San Clemente. Also spoke with a classic Chevy truck parts supplier in San Clemente who said he had never heard of that dealership in San Clemente.

However, there was a Chuck Patterson Chevrolet in La Mirada, CA, 50 miles north of San Clemente, which appears to have been in business from the 60’s to mid-70’s. The 1967 La Mirada high school yearbook actually has a sponsor ad showing a new ’67 Camaro on the showroom floor.

Is it possible the NCRS information is in error, or, since the dealership is listed as an “Inc.”, could the San Clemente location have simply been a business address for the corporation which also included Chuck Patterson Chevrolet in La Mirada?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and Happy Holidays to all!

Dale

Paul, that’s fantastic! I really appreciate you taking the time to track that down and post it. Now that I know the dealership did exist, the hunt is on for an original rear license plate frame or other period memorabilia.

Incoming email headed your way.

Dale
